Canmore

Let nature take your breath away. Kananaskis Country and the charming mountain town of Canmore are just a short drive west of Calgary.

Kananaskis Country includes three provincial parks that provide outdoor enjoyment for everyone. Over 1,500 km of hiking, biking and equestrian trails await the summer outdoor enthusiast. Camping, canoeing, fishing and golf are also available.

During the winter months, challenging snowmobile trails, 350 km of cross-country trails and two world-class downhill ski resorts, Nakiska, of Olympic fame, and For tress Mountain, provide adventure options for visitors. After skiing, curl up beside a crackling fire at a cozy ski resort in Kananaskis Village.

Just outside the eastern gates to Banff National Park, the town of Canmore is at the center of a large recreational area including Kananaskis Country and Banff National Park. Operators of numerous restaurants, unique stores, art galleries and accommodations provide visitors with a memorable mountain experience.

Canmore sits astride the major transportation corridor through the Canadian Rockies. The Canmore Nordic Center, another legacy of the 1988 Winter Olympic Games, is open for skiing in winter and mountain biking and roller blading in summer.
